At Scheck Hillel Community School in North Miami Beach: Amy Gallup has been named Director of High School. She was previously at Miami Country Day School. Rabbi Schlomo Sprung has been named Director of Jewish Life & Community Learning. He is expanding his teaching role at the school in this new position.
HEALTHCARE
Dr. Leonard J. Pianko has been named chief medical officer at Plaza Health Network, which has seven locations in Miami-Dade. He is currently affiliated with Aventura Medical Center. He received his medical degree at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York.
HOSPITALITY
Michael MacDonnell has been named director of food and beverage at The Raleigh in Miami Beach, which is owned by The Raleigh Group. He will continue to manage the neighboring sbe Group property, Townhouse. MacDonnell has been director of operations at Commune Hotels in Chicago.
Philippe Thevenet has been named director of sales and marketing of Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort and Conrad Fort Lauderdale Beach. He was previously director of sales and marketing for Conrad Miami. Thevenet has a master’s from the Université d’Angers, France, in management and marketing in the tourism industry.
INSURANCE
Hans Krogh-Hansen has been named regional business development director at Premier Assurance Group (PA Group), headquartered in Coral Gables. Most recently, he worked as a sales executive for State Farm Insurance.
LAW
At the Miami office of Fowler White Burnett: Timothy J. Ferguson has been named a shareholder in the Products Liability & Toxic Torts practice group. He was previously a partner at Foley & Mansfield. Ferguson has a J.D. from St. John’s University. Nera Shefer has been named a shareholder in the firm’s Immigration practice group as a shareholder. She was previously a founding partner of GRSH Law LLP. Shefer has a J.D. from St. Thomas University.
MEDIA
Rosemary Ravinal has joined Univision Communications Inc. (UCI) as vice president of entertainment and consumer public relations. Most recently, she was a senior counselor on Hispanic business strategy for Toyota Motors North America at República. Ravinal has a bachelor’s in broadcast communications from Adelphi and a master’s in global strategic communications from Florida International University.

Name: Sheila I. Ocasio-Cruz
New position: Senior vice president of operations at FirstBank Florida.
From: Senior vice president and administration director of special assets with FirstBank in Puerto Rico.
The job: In her new job, Ocasio-Cruz will be responsible for operations oversight of human resources, loan servicing and branch operations, and providing administrative oversight over functions that report to corporate units such as compliance, anti-money laundering, audit and credit risk.
Also: Ocasio-Cruz, a CPA, has a bachelor’s in accounting and finance, and a juris doctor (law degree), from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras campus.
Best advice she has ever received: “You’ll see it when you believe it.” I’ve learned that whether it’s a new business strategy roll-out, an organizational culture change, a process change, a sales goal, a system implementation, a behavior change or a personal goal, those powerful words always help me create a vision of the goal and then enrolling and obtaining buy-in from the team and stakeholders always gets me to the finish line.
