LAW

At the Miami office of Broad and Cassel:

▪ Mauricio Rivero has been named a partner, joining the firm’s estate planning and trusts practice group and taxation department. He was previously a partner in the tax and estate planning practice of Avila Rodriguez Hernandez Mena & Ferri in Coral Gables. Earlier in his career, he was a revenue agent for the Internal Revenue Service for a decade. Rivero has a bachelor’s and Ph.D. in history, and a J.D., from Florida International University.

▪ Belkenia Candelario is a tax law associate at the firm. She was also previously a tax law associate at Avila Rodriguez, and before that, was a tax associate at EY. She has a bachelor’s from FIU and a J.D. and master of laws in taxation from the University of Miami.

Michael S. Hoffman has been named partner at Hoffman, Larin & Agnetti in North Miami Beach. Hoffman, who was an associate in the firm, focuses his practice on bankruptcy, creditors’ rights, commercial litigation and community association law. Hoffman has a J.D. from UM.

MUNICIPAL

Roy Coley has been promoted to director of public works for the City of Miami Beach. He was previously assistant director of public works. He joined the city in 2015. He has a bachelor’s from St. Thomas University in organizational leadership and an MBA from Saint Leo University.

NONPROFITS

Kim Carbo has been hired as director of community development at The Memorial and Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Foundations. She will lead the foundations’ IMPACT Young Ambassadors program, which involves young professionals and local leaders in networking, philanthropy and community investment. Carbo, a graduate of Ohio State University, has a master’s in sports management and a doctorate in organizational leadership from Nova Southeastern University.

REAL ESTATE

Harlan Goldberg has been hired as vice president of business development — Northeast U.S. at Cervera Real Estate. He is based in the firm’s Brickell office in Miami. He was previously director of sales for Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group. Goldberg has a bachelor’s in marketing from Boston University.

Beau Raich has been named vice president of acquisitions and associate counsel at Two Roads Development, and he will work out of the firm’s Miami office as well as its West Palm Beach headquarters. He was previously general counsel for SROA Capital, a West Palm Beach-based real estate investment company. Raich has a bachelor’s in public policy studies from Florida International University College of Law.

TECHNOLOGY

At MediXall Group in Fort Lauderdale, which has three divisions: MediXall Healthcare Marketplace (formerly MediXaid), a healthcare marketplace platform; MediXall Finance Group; and MediXall Investment Group:

▪  Michael Swartz has been named president. He was previously vice president of operations. He joined the firm’s management team in 2015 and has been responsible for bring the company’s healthcare marketplace to launch. Swartz has a bachelor’s in finance from the University of North Florida.

▪ Guy Connor has been named executive vice president. He was previously director of business development, where he provided guidance on the technology sector and the MediXall healthcare platform as well as advising on cyber security for all of the company programs.

New job: Vice president of business development and sales at the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce.

Previous job: He most recently was a vice president and director of business development at Tekweni Group, a consulting firm.

Responsibilities: Alexander will drive the organization’s membership sales efforts and lead revenue retention opportunities.

Experience: At Tekweni, he established a highly successful business development sales force, garnering new clientele worldwide, and serving a wide range of industries and disciplines. Previously, he held leadership roles at various financial institutions including Fidelity Trust Capital, Aegis Funding, and Wells Fargo.

Also: He is involved in fundraising activities for B’nai B’rith International, the Greater Miami Jewish Federation, the Jewish Federation of Broward County, and Miami Jewish Health Systems.

Education: Bachelor’s in business administration from Florida International University.

Best advice: The best advice came from my father, who would always tell me: “Finish what you start and get it right the very first time,” which requires determination and strategic planning.
