If you live in Miami Beach and you’ve had trouble paying for parking recently, you’re not alone.
A glitch in an update for the ParkMobile application, which was released for the iOS operating system on iPhones within the past few days, causes the app to show an error message when residents who have registered for discounted parking try to pay. The problem should be fixed this week, said Chief Marketing Officer Jeff Perkins, but in the meantime residents can use these alternative methods to pay for parking:
▪ Instead of using the app, residents can visit the ParkMobile website on their phones and pay through the website. Residents should either select “Enter Zone Number” on the homepage or “Sign In/Sign Up” and then select “Zone Parking.”
▪ Miami Beach residents can also pay by calling the toll-free ParkMobile automated phone system at 1-877-727-5714.
▪ If neither of these methods work, residents should call the customer service number at 1-877-727-5457. There’s also a guide to using these alternative payment methods at this link.
The resident discount will still apply to these alternate payment methods, Perkins said. Anyone who hasn’t yet downloaded the updated version of the ParkMobile app should avoid doing so until the problem has been fixed.
Miami Beach residents who have received a parking ticket in recent days because they were unable to pay using the app can appeal the ticket online at https://secure.miamibeachfl.gov/RAD, said city spokeswoman Melissa Berthier.
“ParkMobile and the city of Miami Beach regret this inconvenience to our customers,” Berthier said in an email. She noted that residents can also use one of the more than 750 parking pay stations citywide to pay for parking using a credit card, bills or coins.
