Alexis Leal has been named vice president of operations for South Florida at Suffolk. He was previously vice president of MCM | Munilla Construction Management. Leal has a bachelor’s in business administration from Barry University.
EDUCATION
The University of Miami Business School recently announced Dr. Henrik Cronqvist as the new vice dean for faculty and research. He was formerly the chair of the department of finance and director of Ph.D. programs, and a professor of finance. Cronqvist will also continue to oversee the Miami Business School Ph.D. programs. He has a Ph.D. in finance from the University of Chicago.
HEALTHCARE
Maria Albury has been named executive director of the Wilton Manors Health and Rehabilitation Center, which is managed by Tampa-based Greystone Healthcare Management Corp. Most recently, she was executive director for Greystone’s largest skilled nursing facility, Unity Health and Rehabilitation Center in Miami.Albury is a graduate of the University of Miami.
Gamil Kharfan has been named chief growth officer at Genuine Health Group, based in Coral Gables. He is responsible for accelerating expansion of the company’s physician network and increasing patient participation. He was previously CEO of Claro Insurance, a multi-state health insurance brokerage with licensed agents working in the Medicare, individual, and commercial insurance markets.

Raquel Fernandez has been hired as partner at Bilzin Sumberg’s litigation group. She was at Cozen O’Connor. Fernandez has a bachelor’s from Cornell and a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania.
NONPROFITS
Habitat for Humanity of Broward has named Casey Huber as its new ReStore general manager. He was the ReStore director at Habitat for Humanity of Greater Cincinnati. He was also vice president of sales & marketing at Builder Resources for two years and president of Parkstone Homes for five years, both in Cincinnati. Huber has a degree in business administration from the University of Cincinnati and an MBA from Xavier University.
REAL ESTATE
Sharon Ellis has been named vice president at Blanca Commercial Real Estate, and she specializes in tenant representation. She previously was at Chariff Realty Group. Ellis has a bachelor’s in communications and business from Cornell and a J.D. from the University of Florida.
RESORTS
Carillon Miami Wellness Resort, a wellness property in Miami Beach, has appointed Tammy Pahel as director of spa. Pahel is also the founder and principal of Spa Management Solutions, which she launched in 1999.

Name: Kim Braxl Cole
New job: Chief financial officer of Broward Health North.
About: Cole will be responsible for directing the coordination of onsite financial services to ensure sound fiscal management of Broward Health North. She will work closely with the leadership team to further cultivate an environment of operational efficiency and strong financial results.
From: Controller of Delray Medical Center.
Also: At Delray Medical Center, she led a cost-savings initiative as a member of the operations committee that realized an annual savings of almost half a million dollars. She also implemented corporate initiatives that resulted in $2.4 million in budgeted savings. Before that, Cole was vice president and controller at CareGuide in Coral Springs and was also manager of financial services at Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale.
Education: Cole has a bachelor’s in accounting and finance from Florida State University.
Best advice: The best advice I received was at a young age from my mother and it is the golden rule: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” I use this golden rule as a guiding principal in my personal and professional life decisions.
